Rolex
The iconic of them all
Why I bought it
Honestly, I just wanted a Rolex. I bought it pre-owned because I don't have any AD connections. Yes, it's a great watch (duh). But looking back, I'd rather have an Explorer, or maybe the no-date Submariner. And no, I'm still not a fan of the iconic Rolex Cyclops. Sorry, not sorry.
Widely regarded as the bridge between vintage character and modern utility, the Reference 16610 represents the pinnacle of five-digit Submariner design. Housed in a perfectly balanced 40 mm stainless steel case, it retains classic proportions alongside practical details like drilled lug holes, an aluminum bezel insert, and a flat sapphire crystal. Powered by the legendary Caliber 3135 movement, this late-1990s example captures the exact era where Rolex perfected utilitarian design before transitioning into the heavier, modern ceramic generation. It remains an absolute benchmark in luxury dive watch history.
