TUMI Dual Time

An unusual Swiss-made TUMI Dual Time travel watch, combining the company's travel-oriented design language with a genuinely useful second time-zone complication.

The silver sunburst dial is surrounded by a black 24-hour scale, with the date at 3 o'clock and a distinctive curved second time-zone display at 6. Period material confirms that TUMI marketed watches of this design as GMT models, while another surviving example describes the watch as a "Dual Time Zones" model.

The substantial stainless-steel case and integrated bracelet give it a very characteristic early-2000s appearance. Despite measuring approximately 45 mm including the crown, the integrated design makes it wear considerably less imposing than that measurement suggests.

The caseback identifies this example as reference 2315 738.178 and confirms 100-metre water resistance and Swiss manufacture.

This example is particularly attractive because of its condition. It is exceptionally well preserved, almost NOS, remains on its original integrated TUMI bracelet, works perfectly and has just received a new battery.

Reliable market data is scarce. A surviving listing for a closely related TUMI Dual Time Zones model records an original/outlet price of $970 and an asking price of Rp 7,000,000. Considering the rarity of surviving examples and the exceptional condition of this watch, I estimate its present market value at approximately $450.
