Condition
Fair vintage condition. The watch shows considerable age-related wear, including oxidation and surface wear to the case and fixed strap bars, ageing and discoloration to the dial, and scratches and marks to the crystal. Treating the watch as working pending confirmation. Mechanical condition and service history are unknown. If necessary, it will be serviced before sale.
An unusually designed 1970s Sicura Elegance that is much more interesting than the typical conventional watches produced under the Sicura name.
The watch uses an extremely wide and shallow rectangular case measuring approximately 35 × 18 mm, with the actual time display reduced to a small circular register positioned toward the right side of the dial. A simple horizontal line runs across the dial and through the time display, giving the whole watch a distinctly architectural, almost minimalist appearance.
The dial is signed Sicura Elegance, 17 Jewels, Swiss Made and Incabloc, while the caseback carries reference 9058 and is marked "All Swiss Made."
Inside is a 17-jewel Swiss manual-wind mechanical movement with Incabloc shock protection. The exact caliber has not been confirmed, so I prefer not to attribute a specific movement without opening the watch.
The watch is in fair vintage condition, with visible ageing and oxidation, particularly around the case and fixed strap bars. It currently has no strap. Despite the cosmetic wear, the unusual proportions and eccentric dial architecture make this one of the more distinctive Sicura Elegance designs.
Comparable Sicura Elegance watches show a surprisingly healthy collector market compared with ordinary vintage Sicura models. In its present condition, and treating it as working pending confirmation, I estimate the current market value at approximately $150.
