Condition
Good vintage condition with substantial, honest age-related patina. The vertically textured dial remains attractive and legible, with visible oxidation and spotting, particularly around the outer dial and hands. The watch is currently running but needs a service. It is fitted with a period-style stainless-steel bracelet that is not original to the watch.
A vintage Tissot Visodate Automatic Seastar from approximately the 1960s, combining one of Tissot's classic automatic movements with a particularly attractive vertically textured silver dial.
The dial carries the period Tissot signature and applied logo at 12, with "Visodate" beneath it and "Automatic Seastar" above 6 o'clock. Applied baton markers, dauphine-style hands and a framed date window at 3 complete the characteristic early-1960s design.
The watch shows genuine age rather than having been cosmetically restored. There is visible patina and oxidation on the dial and hands, but the unusual vertical texture remains clearly defined and gives this example considerable character.
Comparable Visodate Automatic Seastar watches from this period are documented with Tissot's 21-jewel caliber 784 family. I have not opened this particular watch, however, so I prefer to leave the exact caliber unconfirmed until the movement can be inspected.
