Excellent cosmetic condition. The case, brown dial and direct-read display are particularly well preserved.
Why I bought it
I found this watch while hunting for vintage jumping hours during a few hours in Frankfurt. I didn't know much about Samuray when I found it, but the condition, brown dial and automatic movement made it an easy addition to the collection.
I found this Samuray during a few hours I had in Frankfurt, specifically looking for vintage jumping-hour watches. It was one of those occasions when the hunt actually produced something I had not expected to find.
The watch is Swiss made and marked Automatic and 17 Jewels. Its jumping-hour display sits on the left, with a large rotating minute disc beside it. The brown dial has a fine textured finish, while the large polished case gives it the unmistakable proportions of a 1970s mechanical digital watch.
What really convinced me was the condition. Compared with many surviving watches of this type, this one has been very well preserved.
Samuray was not a brand I went looking for that day, which makes the watch more interesting to me. It is also a reminder of why I still enjoy searching for these watches in person rather than only looking for them online.
