Why I bought it
I wanted a modern everyday watch with the integrated-bracelet look of the 1970s, and the PRX was an obvious candidate. What really made this version stand out for me was the ice-blue textured dial. It gives an otherwise quite restrained steel watch much more personality.
The PRX is Tissot's modern interpretation of a case design introduced in 1978, and that connection with the 1970s is probably a large part of why I like it. The angular 40 mm steel case flows directly into the integrated-style bracelet, while the ice-blue textured dial changes considerably depending on the light.
Inside is Tissot's Powermatic 80 automatic movement, offering up to 80 hours of power reserve and a Nivachron balance spring. The watch also has a sapphire crystal, display caseback, date at 3 o'clock and 100 metres of water resistance. (Tissot Watches)
It is a very different kind of Tissot from the vintage Newtimer jumping hour in my collection, but there is an interesting common thread between them. Both reflect the design language of the 1970s, one as an original product of that period and the other as a modern watch built around it.
