Why I bought it
I like jumping-hour watches that add complications without losing the mechanical digital character of the design. This Milus combines jumping hours and rotating minutes with both day and date, making it a less common variation of the 1970s format.
This Milus takes the familiar 1970s mechanical digital format a step further. The hour appears in the large aperture on the left, with the minutes displayed on the adjacent rotating disc. On the right is a conventional date window, while a separate aperture beside the Milus signature displays the day.
There is also a small running-seconds indicator in the center of the dial. This is a useful detail on a watch where the principal time display uses discs rather than conventional hands, providing an immediate indication that the movement is running.
The dial is marked Automatic, and the combination of jumping hour, rotating minutes, day, date and running seconds gives the watch considerably more information than most mechanical digital watches of the period.
The broad case and integrated bracelet place it firmly in the design language of the 1970s. What interests me most, however, is the unusual arrangement of the displays. It takes the mechanical digital idea and incorporates the functions of a conventional automatic day-date watch without abandoning the jumping-hour format.
