Used condition with visible wear to the case, bezel and crystal. The black dial and mechanical digital display remain clearly legible.
Why I bought it
I like these relatively obscure Swiss jumping-hour watches from the 1970s, particularly when the design is so characteristic of the period. The oval dial, large case and compact digital display give this Agon a look that could hardly belong to another decade.
This Agon is a straightforward example of the mechanical digital watches that became popular during the 1970s. The hour is displayed through the rectangular aperture on the left, while the adjacent rotating disc shows the minutes against a fixed marker.
The black oval dial is signed Agon, Digital and Swiss. It sits inside a much larger case, with a textured area surrounding the display and a dark oval bezel separating it from the brushed outer case.
I have not confirmed the caliber, so I prefer to leave the movement identification open rather than assume it from the display arrangement.
This is not a complicated watch, but it captures a particular side of 1970s Swiss watchmaking that I enjoy collecting: conventional mechanical movements presented through unconventional digital displays and cases.
